Swiss Steak

Sinclair River Bison Ranch is located on the eastern edge of the scenic Swan River Valley, not far from the town of Minitonas in beautiful Manitoba, Canada. Home to a herd of over 250 Free Range Buffalo, the ranch prides itself on running a natural herd, free from growth enhancing hormones and antibiotics.

Ingredients

  1. 1/4 cup all-purpose flour 
  2. 1 tsp salt 
  3. 1/4 tsp pepper 
  4. 1-1/2 pounds deboned bison round steak, cut into serving-size pieces 
  5. 2 tbsp canola oil 
  6. 1 cup chopped celery 
  7. 1 cup chopped onion 
  8. 1/2 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced 
  9. 1 cup water 
  10. 1 garlic clove, minced 
  11. 1 tbsp steak sauce

Steps

  1. Combine flour, salt and pepper. Dredge steak in flour mixture.
  2. In a skillet, brown steak in oil. Place in a 2-1/2 quart casserole. Top with celery, onion and mushrooms.
  3. Combine water, garlic and steak sauce; pour over vegetables.
  4. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 1-1/2 hours or until the meat is tender.
  5. Other Method: This can also be made in a slow-cooker. Allow 6 hours of cooking time on low.
