Rice Krispies Squares

Ingredients

  1. 40 marshmallows 
  2. 4 tbsp (60 mL) butter 
  3. 1/2 tsp (2 mL) vanilla extract, optional 
  4. 6 cups (1.5 L) Rice Krispies

Steps

  1. Melt the butter in a large saucepan.
  2. Add the marshmallows and mix well. Melt until the mixture is uniform in texture. Remove from the stove.
  3. Add the vanilla. Mix.
  4. Add the cereal and mix well.
  5. Butter a baking dish, about 12 inches in diameter. The smaller the dish, the taller the squares. The dish can be round, square or any other shape.
  6. Using a buttered spatula, press the batter into the dish. Let cool for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
