Invented by Ricardo Garcia, a Spanish bartender, the piña colada gradually became an international favourite, just the thing for tired executives on vacation and tropical island castaways.

Ingredients

  1. 1-1/2 oz (45 mL) white rum
  2. 3 tbsp (45 mL) coconut milk
  3. 1/3 cup (75 mL) pineapple juice, or crushed pineapple

Steps

  1. Blend the ingredients with a cup and a half of ice, pour into a hollowed-out pineapple or coconut shell, garnish with a cherry, top it all up with one of those funny little paper umbrellas. Gilligan would be proud.
