Homemade Chili con Carne

Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp butter
- 2 onions, chopped
- 1 green pepper, sliced or chopped
- 1 red pepper, sliced or chopped
- 2 jalapeno peppers, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can black beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 can red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp cumin powder
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp cilantro, or to taste
- 3 to 4 drops Tabasco sauce
- 3 to 4 drops Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (7.5 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 can (5.5 oz) tomato paste
- 1 can (19 oz) tomato juice
- 1-1/2 cup beef broth
Steps
- In a large pot, melt butter in oil. Add ground beef and brown. Add onions, red and green peppers and garlic. Add jalapeno and cook until veggies and softened.
- Stir mixture. Add spices and liquids. Adjust seasonings to taste.
- Simmer for an 1-1/2 hours over low heat, stirring occasionally. Add black and red beans and cook for another 5 to 10 minutes.
