Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2-1/4 cup flour
- 1/3 cup cocoa
- 1 tsp baking soda
- About 3 chocolate bars (50g) of various types, cut into cubes
Steps
- Cream together butter, brown sugar and sugar.
- Mix in eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
- Sift together cocoa and baking soda. Stir into the existing mixture. (You can also omit the cocoa and then add a little more flour, or divide the dough in half to make half chocolate biscuits and half white cookies.)
- Let the dough stiffen in the refrigerator for a little while.
- Take a tablespoon of dough in the palm of your hand and widen the center to put a piece of chocolate in it. Close dough by rolling in the palm of your hand. (This is the surprise part!)
- Line cookie sheet with parchment paper. Bake cookies at 350°F for 8 to 12 minutes (depending on your oven) or until cookies flatten.
- Remove from oven and let cool on metal rack.
