Makes for a really nice presentation in a glass dish. I always have a lot of success with this recipe. People always ask for it.

Ingredients

  1. 2 avocados
  2. Pinch salt
  3. 1/2 tsp (2 mL) lemon juice
  4. 1 cup (250 mL) sour cream
  5. 1/2 packet (35 g) taco seasoning
  6. 1 cup (250 mL) Monterey Jack cheese, grated
  7. 1 cup (250 mL) Cheddar cheese, grated
  8. 1 cup (250 mL) tomatoes, seeded and cut in small dice
  9. 1/4 cup (65 mL) green onions, chopped
  10. 1/4 cup (65 mL) black olives, chopped

Steps

  1. Peel, seed and mash the avocados with the salt and lemon juice.
  2. Spread the avocado mixture in the bottom of a round dish, preferably one made of clear glass.
  3. In a bowl, combine the sour cream with the taco seasoning. Spread on top of the avocado mixture.
  4. Spread the Monterey Jack on top and press gently.
  5. Add the Cheddar cheese, press gently.
  6. Add the diced tomatoes, then the green onions and finally the black olives.
  7. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
