Each person dips fruit or small chunks of brioche or pound cake into the fondue pot to coat them in a creamy layer of chocolate.

Ingredients

  1. 1-1/2 cups (10 oz/300 g) dark chocolate

  2. 2/3 cup (150 mL) milk
  3. 3/8 cup + 1 tsp (100 mL) table cream (preferably 15%)
  4. 3 tbsp (40 g) butter, cut up
  5. 1 package vanilla-flavoured sugar
  6. 2 bananas
  7. 2 apples
  8. 2 pears
  9. 2 oranges or mandarins
  10. Lemon juice
  11. Brioche or pound cake

Steps

  1. Peel and cube the apples and pears, then sprinkle with a pit of lemon juice.

  2. Cut the peeled bananas into rounds and add lemon juice.

  3. Peel and section oranges or mandarins. Divide them, along with the other fruit, into individual dishes.

  4. Place the milk and broken chocolate into a heavy saucepan. Heat on low.

  5. When the chocolate has melted, add the butter. Stir until creamy.

  6. Add the cream and the vanilla-flavoured sugar.

  7. Pour the sauce into a earthenware fondue pot. Place it on a burner set over a low-flame. Arm yourself with fondue forks.
