Kids love chocolate dippers! When making them, choose dark chocolate—it’s packed full of immune-boosting antioxidants, particularly flavonoids. Recent research suggests that flavonoids protect against the development of cardiovascular disease.

Dried fruit is also good dipped in chocolate. Try dried peaches or apricots.

Ingredients

  1. 1 pkg (300 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  2. 20 strawberries
  3. 1 kiwi fruit, peeled and sliced
  4. 2 bananas, cut into 1-inch slices

Steps

  1. Line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a double boiler, melt chocolate over medium heat.
  3. Turn down heat to low and begin dipping fruit into the chocolate as follows:
  4. Hold strawberry by its stem and dip into chocolate. The chocolate should come three-quarters of the way up the strawberry. Place on cookie sheet and allow to cool. Repeat with remaining strawberries.
  5. Hold kiwi slice at the top and dip into chocolate. The chocolate should come halfway up the slice of fruit. Place on cookie sheet to cool. Repeat with remaining kiwi slices.
  6. Pierce banana slice with fork and dip into chocolate. The chocolate should completely cover the banana. Place on cookie sheet. Repeat with remaining banana slices.
  7. Place fruit in the refrigerator or in a cool, dry place to allow the chocolate to harden. Once the chocolate is hard, remove fruit from cookie sheet and place on a serving platter. Do not leave the fruit in refrigerator for longer than 15 minutes as condensation will form on chocolate.
