Chocolate Brownies

Ingredients

  1. 1/4 cup (65 mL) vegetable oil 
  2. 4 squares (120 g) semisweet chocolate 
  3. 3/4 cup (190 mL) milk 
  4. 1/2 cup (125 mL) sugar 
  5. 1 egg 
  6. 1-1/4 cup (315 mL) all-purpose flour 
  7. 1/2 tsp (2 mL) salt 
  8. 1/2 tsp (2 mL) baking soda  
  9. 1 tsp (5 mL) vanilla extract 
  10. 1/2 cup (125 mL) chocolate chips

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F (180 C).
  2. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler.
  3. Meanwhile, combine all the other ingredients, except the chocolate chips.
  4. Add the melted chocolate.
  5. Pour the batter into a square ovenproof baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle the top of the mixture with chocolate chips.
  7. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.
  8. Serve while the brownies are still warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
