Bison Sour Cream Swiss Steak

Sinclair River Bison Ranch is located on the eastern edge of the scenic Swan River Valley, not far from the town of Minitonas in beautiful Manitoba, Canada. Home to a herd of over 250 Free Range Buffalo, the ranch prides itself on running a natural herd, free from growth enhancing hormones and antibiotics.

Ingredients

  1. 3 pounds round bison steak, cut into serving-size pieces 
  2. 3 tbsp olive oil 
  3. 3 tbsp margarine 
  4. 1-1/2 cups water 
  5. 1-1/2 cups sour cream 
  6. 1 cup finely chopped onion 
  7. 2 garlic cloves, minced 
  8. 1/3 cup Soya sauce 
  9. 1/4 cup brown sugar 
  10. 1-1/2 tsp each salt, pepper, paprika, and dry mustard 
  11. 3 tbsp flour

Steps

  1. Fry steak in oil and butter on both sides until browned.
  2. Place in slow cooker. Mix remaining ingredients together and pour over steak.
  3. Cook for 6 to 8 hours on low heat, until tender.
