Sinclair River Bison Ranch is located on the eastern edge of the scenic Swan River Valley, not far from the town of Minitonas in beautiful Manitoba, Canada. Home to a herd of over 250 Free Range Buffalo, the ranch prides itself on running a natural herd, free from growth enhancing hormones and antibiotics.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground bison
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 can (398 ml) tomato sauce
- 1 can (156 ml) tomato paste
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup salsa
- 2 tsp sugar
- 1-2 tsp chili powder
- 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 13 lasagna noodles
- 1 carton (500 g) creamed cottage cheese
- 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Steps
- Brown meat in a large skillet. Add onions and garlic and cook until soft. Stir in next 7 ingredients. Simmer, uncovered for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
- Meanwhile, cook lasagna noodles according to package directions; drain and rinse in cold water.
- In a 9 x 13 pan, spread a thin layer of meat sauce, a layer of noodles, a layer of meat sauce, half of the cottage cheese, mozzarella cheese, another layer of noodles, meat sauce, the remaining cottage cheese, mozzarella cheese and a final layer of noodles, meat sauce and mozzarella cheese.
