Sinclair River Bison Ranch is located on the eastern edge of the scenic Swan River Valley, not far from the town of Minitonas in beautiful Manitoba, Canada. Home to a herd of over 250 Free Range Buffalo, the ranch prides itself on running a natural herd, free from growth enhancing hormones and antibiotics.

Ingredients

  1. 1 tbsp canola oil 
  2. 1 cup chopped onion 
  3. 1 green pepper, diced 
  4. 1/2 cup celery 
  5. 2 lb ground bison 
  6. 2 garlic cloves, minced 
  7. 1 can (28 oz.) diced plum tomatoes 
  8. 1 can (14 oz.) tomato sauce 
  9. 1 can (5 ½ oz.) tomato paste 
  10. 3 tbsp chili powder 
  11. 1 bay leaf 
  12. 1 tsp dry oregano 
  13. 1 tsp dry basil 
  14. 1/2 tsp ground cumin

Steps

  1. Put oil in large saucepan. Add onion, green pepper and celery and sauté over medium heat until onion begins to soften.
  2. Add bison. Stir and cook until meat is browned.
  3. Stir in garlic, sauces and spices. Bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Remove bay leaf and serve.
