Beef Stroganoff

Serve on the noodles. Garnish with parsley and paprika.

Ingredients

  1. 2 tbsp (30 mL) margarine  
  2. 1 lb (450 g) interior round steak, cut in thin strips  
  3. 1/2 lb (225 g; 1 container) sliced fresh mushrooms  
  4. 1 can (284 mL) cream of mushroom and garlic  
  5. 1/2 cup (125 mL) sour cream or milk  
  6. 1/2 tsp (1 g) paprika  
  7. 4 cups (1000 mL; 800 g) hot cooked noodles  
  8. Parsley and paprika for garnish

Steps

  1. In a large saucepan, melt the margarine over high heat.
  2. Brown the beef. Lightly season it. Set aside.
  3. Sauté the mushrooms in the remaining margarine until the liquid evaporates.
  4. Stir in the soup, the sour cream and the paprika. Add the beef. Heat through without boiling.
