Bechamel Sauce

Ingredients

  1. 1/2 onion 
  2. 3 tbsp (45 mL) butter 
  3. 3 tbsp (45 mL) flour 
  4. 2 cups (500 mL) milk 
  5. 1/4 tbsp (1 mL) nutmeg 
  6. Salt and pepper, to taste

Steps

  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter and add the flour. Let cook for 2 minutes while stirring.
  2. Add the milk and onion. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring constantly.
  3. Remove the onion. Add the seasonings. Serve.
