Ingredients
- 1 dozen eggs
- 12 pimento-stuffed olives
- 1 packet (28 g) plain gelatin
- 2 tsp (10 mL) green food colouring
- Tube of red jelly to decorate cakes, or a strawberry glaze icing
Steps
- Cook eggs until hard-boiled, about 15 minutes.
- Run cold water over the eggs to cool them down. Remove the shells.
- Cut the eggs in half lengthwise and place them in a deep dish. Place a pimento-stuffed olive on each egg.
- Prepare the gelatin according to package directions.
- Pour the liquid gelatin into a saucepan and reheat.
- Add the green food colouring. Mix gently for 1 minute.
- Remove from the heat and let cool for 3 to 4 minutes, until the mixture is no longer boiling hot.
- Pour the green gelatin over the eggs and let cool.
- Before the gelatin completely solidifies, draw some red veins on the eggs and gelatin with the tube of red jelly.
- Place the eggs in the refrigerator until serving time.
