Basmati Rice (Microwave)

Note: This recipe is suited to a 1100-watt microwave.

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup (250 mL) basmati rice 
  2. 1 green pepper, cut into pieces 
  3. 1 onion, thinly sliced 
  4. 1 tsp (5 g) thyme 
  5. 1 tsp (5 g) chervil 
  6. Pepper, to taste 
  7. 1 tbsp (15 g) chicken stock 
  8. 1-1/2 cups (375 mL) water 
  9. 1 knob of butter

Steps

  1. With a sieve, rinse and drain the rice.
  2. Melt the butter in the microwave, about 45 seconds on HIGH.
  3. Pour the butter into a large microwave-safe dish, and add the rice, green pepper and onion. Cook for 3 minutes in the microwave on HIGH, until the rice becomes translucent.
  4. Add the water, pepper, thyme, chervil and stock.
  5. Mix well. Cook in the microwave twice, 5 minutes each, at the highest level.
