Banana Orange Shake

Cool down with a frosty vitamin and mineral shakeup. Wrap peeled ripe bananas in plastic wrap and keep them in the freezer, ready to blend with juice for frothy afterschool thirst quenchers.

Ingredients

  1. 1 frozen peeled ripe banana 
  2. 1 cup (250 mL) orange juice

Steps

  1. Cut banana into chunks; transfer to blender or food processor. Pour in juice; blend or puree until smooth. Pour into glasses.

    Fruity Milk Sipper:
    Blend 1-1/2 cups (375 mL) milk or soy beverage with 1/4 cup (50 mL) raspberry, cranberry or pineapple juice concentrate.
  3. Mango Lassi: Blend together 1 cup (250 mL) plain yogurt, I ripe mango, peeled and chopped, and 1 tbsp (15 mL) liquid honey. (If mangoes are unavailable, use 1-1/2 cups/375 mL mango juice or nectar and 1/2 cup/125 mL plain yogurt.)
  4. Choco-Berry Smoothie: Blend 1 cup (250 mL) chocolate milk with 1 cup (250 mL) frozen or fresh strawberries.
