Asparagus au Gratin

Ingredients

  1. 1 can (250 mL) asparagus  
  2. 2 tbsp (16 g) flour  
  3. 2 tbsp (30 g) butter  
  4. 1 cup (250 mL) milk  
  5. Mozzarella cheese 
  6. Salt, pepper and cayenne  
  7. 6 slices cooked ham

Steps

  1. Make a béchamel sauce by melting the butter and adding the flour.
  2. Gradually stir in the milk and thicken until smooth.
  3. Season to taste.
  4. Pour the béchamel sauce over the bottom of an ovenproof baking dish.
  5. Roll 3 or 4 asparagus spears in a slice of ham and lay on the sauce.
  6. Add the grated mozzarella.
  7. Bake in 350 F (180 C) oven for 15 minutes and then broil until the cheese is golden.
