Ingredients

  1. 1-1/2 lb (675 g) ground pork 
  2. 1 onion, medium 
  3. 2 tbsp (30 ml) flour 
  4. 1/2 cup (125 ml) chicken broth 
  5. 1 tbsp (15 ml) Dijon mustard 
  6. 1/2 tsp (2 ml) dried thyme 
  7. 1 tsp (5 ml) salt 
  8. 2 apples, small 
  9. 2 pieces of pie dough (top and bottom)

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Brown pork with onion. Drain fat.
  3. Add flour and stir in chicken broth, mustard, thyme and salt.
  4. Cook, stirring until the mixture has thickened.
  5. Place the peeled apple slices on bottom of pie crust and pour pork mixture over top.
  6. Add another pie shell on top. Cut steam vents in top of the dough with a knife.
  7. Place the pie on a baking sheet. Bake at 400°F for about 35 minutes or until pastry is golden.
