La Cocina de Mama: The Great Homecooking of Spain

La Cocina de Mama: The Great Homecooking of Spain More details on this book's website

Penelope Casas, the author of Tapas, takes us on a journey featuring the best of Spanish home cooking.

In this volume, Casas has collected over 175 recipes from Spain's leading chefs, innovators inspired by the hearty flavours they enjoyed as children -- in their mothers' kitchens, of course. Passed down through generations, these robust homemade dishes from every region of Spain will leave you wanting more.

Personally, I love holding appetizer get-togethers, where everyone can sample a wide variety of flavours, so I focused on the Tapas chapter when I picked up this book. Don't be fooled though, La Cocina de Mama covers everything from soups and salads to main courses and desserts. However, if you're as enamoured by appetizers as I am, here's a short excerpt about tapas from the book.

I tried: Pan con Tomate y Anchoa (Garlic, Olive Oil, and Fresh Tomato on Toasted Bread). This simple but delicious appetizer is truly mouth watering.

I plan to try: Piquitos de Enrique DaCosta (Enrique's Bread Bites) and Queso Manchego con Aceitunas y Piquillos (Manchego Cheese Canapés with Olives and Piquillo Peppers.

If you're a fan of increasingly popular Spanish cuisine, you'll be pleased with this fine collection of authentic recipes.
